MTA: 4th Ave. and 9th St. station to open by year's end

The MTA confirms the train entrance on the east side of 4th Avenue and 9th Street will open by the end of this year.The station

PARK SLOPE - The MTA confirms the train entrance on the east side of 4th Avenue and 9th Street will open by the end of this year.

The station houses the F, G and R trains and is already undergoing improvements to platforms and canopies.

Brooklyn residents who live and work in Park Slope say the opening can't come soon enough.  They say with the increase in people living in the area, the station is needed more than ever.

The MTA says the station is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2012.
