BROOKLYN - The MTA is expected to add express service to the F train line, officials say.

Commuters who get on at Stillwell Avenue, the first stop on the F line in Brooklyn, would save about 15 minutes traveling into Manhattan.

The express train service would begin during rush hour between Jay Street-MetroTech and Church Avenue.

It would skip six stops along the way.

This service is being brought back for the first time in nearly 30 years.

City Councilman David Greenfield and community members have been fighting for the change for years.

Just recently the MTA completed a feasibility study and found that the plan could work and would reduce track conflicts and traffic, but there would be a heavier volume of people riding the trains.

Borough President Eric Adams criticized the news, saying the decision was made "outside of consultation with local representatives and impacted straphangers."

The program will begin on a limited basis this summer, with more regular express service next year.
