National Weather Service issues heat advisory through Wednesday

BROOKLYN - An excessive heat advisory is in effect for the borough.

The National Weather Service issued the warning Sunday, and it will be active until noon on Wednesday, but a new one is expected to be issued right after.

Temperatures will be above 90 throughout the city all week. Experts are urging everyone to avoid strenuous activities while outdoors and to drink plenty of water.

The city is also reminding residents to check in on their elderly neighbors. If anyone is without air conditioning, it is advised to stop by the nearest cooling center.
