Near-century old Coney Island Bialys saved by 2 Muslim brothers

CONEY ISLAND - Coney Island Bialys and Bagels was set to close soon after serving up fresh bialys and bagels to Coney Island for 91 years, but thanks to two Muslim brothers, the store was saved.

The brothers, Zafar Yab and Tariq Rao, came in and bought the store and are now baking up the same bialys that have been coming out of the ovens for decades.

For Yab, he knows the store well, since he spent over a decade baking the famous bialys.

While the brothers may be Muslim, they say that the store is still kosher.

"Religion doesn't matter as long as the product is good," says one customer.
