STARRETT CITY - Students at P.S. 346 in Starrett City are learning about aquatic life with the help of a new aquaponic garden classroom.

The tank is filled with tilapia fish and plants being grown without soil. The fish's waste is used to grow the plant. When the fish get bigger, the students will raise them.

The student's teacher says the process helps teach them about the relationship between plants and aquatic life.

The aquaponic garden classroom is the only one of its kind in an elementary school and one of only three in New York City. It was created with a $10,000 grant by the eBay Foundation Corporate Advised Fund.
