BROOKLYN - A special ceremony was held this morning to celebrate the opening of the new Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The uplands of Piers 3 and 4 are complete, meaning for the first time ever, the Brooklyn Bridge Park is now connected from the north to the south. The new section connects DUMBO to Pier 6 at Atlantic Avenue.

It took about a year to complete the new section. By early 2014, park officials hope to complete Pier 2, which will have basketball courts and roller hockey rinks.
