New head of schools visits Brooklyn school

BED-STUY - New York City School Chancellor Cathie Black started the first day in her new position by taking a tour of schools throughout the five boroughs today.

While stopping in Brooklyn, Chancellor Black held a meet-and-greet at P.S. 262 in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Black sat in on a fourth-grade writing class and a reading class with fifth-graders, assessing and listening to teachers, who she said are the key ingredient to improving student test scores.

She said she is very excited for her new role in the city's public school system.
