BROOKLYN - Officials unveiled new proposed designs for Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park yesterday.

A sleek viewing platform is proposed for the northeast corner of the pier to provide views of New York Harbor, shade for visitors and host some multipurpose events and programs.

Other improvements include lush planted areas and lawns that would add to the waterfront promenade.

Officials say the project costs $21 million, but it does not include funding for the viewing platform.  Brooklyn Bridge Park hopes to begin building the landscape in early 2014.
