New report ranks quality of life for children

BROOKLYN - The Citizens? Committee for Children of New York released its annual report Wednesday citing the best and worst Brooklyn neighborhoods for raising children.According to the report, the neighborhoods where children are most at risk are Bed-Stuy, Bushwick and Crown Heights. Many parents in these neighborhoods are not surprised.?It?s crazy out there,? says Bed-Stuy resident Hammer Jackson, ?[They?re] out of control.?The report lists Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay, Canarsie and Borough Park as some of the better neighborhoods for children. Many Brooklyn parents wish more could be done to keep kids on the right path. The study, named ?Keeping Track of New York City?s Children,? reviewed economics, housing, childcare, health and education in neighborhoods of all five boroughs.
