BROOKLYN - A new ad campaign launched by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene can now be seen in many of the city?s subways.

The campaign promotes a nutritious 2000-calorie-a-day diet and can be seen in one out of every five subway cars.

The subway ads are costing the department $82,000 and will run through January.

A city law enacted in April requires that food chains post calorie information on menu boards. The subway ad campaign will highlight some of the worst food choices displayed on those menus, including a 470-calorie muffin.

Critics in Brooklyn have said that it is harder to eat healthy in poorer neighborhoods.

?You have to buy what you can afford,? says resident Digma Manzo.
