BROOKLYN - The New York Organ Donor Network was at Lutheran Medical Center today to encourage people to sign up as organ donors.

Representatives from the New York Organ Donor Network signed people up for New York's Donate Life Registry.

"I feel really good right now and I know that I will be helping someone else," says Anne Marie Sabella, who registered to become an organ donor for the first time.

Dr. Anthony Geraci, a member of Lutheran Medical Center's Donor Council, says New York is 49th in the country in terms of organ donors. Organizers of the event handed out pamphlets and spoke with people as a way of educating and raising awareness about organ donation.
