ALBANY - Advocates for the New York DREAM Act say they aren't giving up after the act was rejected by the state Senate last night.

The New York State DREAM Act Coalition held a press conference in Albany today, calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to include the estimated $25 million needed for the act in the state's budget. The act would give undocumented immigrants access to financial aid to go to college.

Yocasta Novas, who is undocumented and has lived in the U.S. since she was 2 years old, is now a sophomore at Lehman College. She says that despite being valedictorian of her high school class, she had a very hard time getting into school because she doesn't have a Social Security number. Novas is afraid she might not be able to finish her degree.

The state budget deadline is April 1.
