BK residents return guns at buy-back event (12/15/12)

BROOKLYN - A day after the second deadliest shooting in U.S. history, Brooklyn authorities held a gun buy-back event at various locations.

Local leaders say it is a coincidence that the event was held after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Residents were able to drop off their guns in exchange for money at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Cypress Hills, with no questions asked.

A representative from the district attorney’s office says at least a dozen people turned out for the event, and that it won’t be the last buy-back event held in the borough.
