BROOKLYN - A Mother's Day walk across the Brooklyn Bridge was held today to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Dawn Diaz, an organizer of the event, says that she founded the walk in honor of her late mother, who was a victim of domestic violence.

Diaz says the mission of the walk is to ensure that other women who are facing domestic abuse find freedom.

Organizers say the day is also about celebrating women who have survived domestic abuse.
