BROOKLYN - Brooklyn is being hit by a strong nor'easter tonight, bringing a wintry mix and strong winds to the area.

The borough is forecasted to experience heavy rains and strong winds into the night and early Thursday morning. A high wind warning will be in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday. City officials are urging residents to stay off the roads unless it is necessary.

The nor'easter brought out cold temperatures and city officials are urging anyone who doesn't have a warm place to stay to call 311 to find the closest restoration center.

Con Ed crews say they will be on standby throughout the night, ready to address any power outages in the borough.
