NEW YORK - (AP) - The New York City Charter Revision Commissionfocused on term limits in the first of a monthlong series of issuesforums throughout the five boroughs.

Tuesday's forum in Brooklyn included testimony from a panel ofnationally recognized experts on the topic of term limits. Thecommission could ask voters to decide whether to go back to twoterms, keep three terms or some other possibility.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg created the commission to review theCity Charter and propose possible changes to city laws, includingterm limits.

When the mayor persuaded the City Council to extend term limitsso he could run for a third term, he promised he would convene acharter commission to look at the issue again.

The result could be that term limits are put before the votersfor a referendum.
