NEW YORK - (AP) - A New York City councilman says there's notenough diversity on the Democratic ticket and he'll run forgovernor to protest.

Charles Barron says he's angry over Democrat Andrew Cuomo'sselection of a white, male running mate, Rochester Mayor RobertDuffy. All the Democrats running statewide this year are white.

Barron on Monday said he's tired of Democrats taking blackvoters for granted. He's going to create a new line on the ballot, called the New York Freedom Democratic Party, and run on that lineto challenge Cuomo.

Cuomo's campaign declined to comment on Barron's plans.

A new Siena College Poll released Monday found Cuomo running farahead of his Republican rival, Rick Lazio.
