NEW YORK - The city's Poison Control Center is sharing tips to help keep you and your loved ones safe as part of National Poison Prevention Week.
Parents are told to watch out for cleansers and detergents that are brightly colored because they can be appealing to kids. Those types of items should be stored up high, in the original container, and away from food.
Everyone is reminded that if they think someone has been poisoned, they shouldn't hesitate to call the 24-hour poison control hotline at 212-POISONS or 212-764-7667.
Officials say that more people in Brooklyn call the Poison Control Center for help each year than in any other borough.
