NYC students outpace nation on SATs

BROOKLYN - City students are outpacing their peers nationwide on the SAT exam, according to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott.

Bloomberg and Walcott made a special trip to Bedford Academy today to show how well students in the school and citywide are doing. Their success is being measured by how city students did on the SAT exams.

More seniors are taking the tests, and they are getting higher scores. Scores in the city are up 8 percent compared to a 3 percent drop nationwide.

Bedford Academy has seen scores go up by 14 percent among seniors.
