BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - A shooting during a basketball tournament in Bedford-Stuyvesant yesterday that left one man dead has organizers vowing to take measures that will keep their event safe.

Three people were shot during the game on Herkimer Street just before 9 p.m. A 32-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Interfaith Hospital.

Police say two others were taken to Kings County Hospital, a 36-year-old man with a leg wound and a 45-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

"The older adults made a vow if we see troublemakers, we're not gonna? allow them into the park," says James McDougal, who organizes the games.
