NYPD cop faces criminal charges in BK sodomy assault

BROOKLYN - A New York City police officer accused of sexually assaulting a man standing on a Brooklyn subway platform learned Sunday he will face criminal charges.Officer Richard Kerns, along with two other officers, have been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly attacking subway rider Michael Mineo after Mineo says they caught him smoking marijuana.Mineo's lawyers say they plan to file a civil lawsuit this week.The indictment will be unsealed Tuesday.
