SUNSET PARK - The New York Police Department held a dedication ceremony today to christen a new boat in honor of fallen Detective Dillon Stewart.

Stewart was shot and killed while on duty in East Flatbush back in 2005.

His family attended the ceremony and had a chance to tour the boat. Stewart’s wife, Leslyn, was proud to know her husband’s name would be attached to such a worthy mission. “This dedication is a beautiful tribute and honor in Dillon’s memory. It’s a beautiful thing,” she said.

The new boat will be used by the scuba team for counter-terrorism patrol around the harbor, as well as search and rescue efforts.
