Jason Sharp is charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.

BROOKLYN - An NYPD officer in Brooklyn has been arrested for allegedly punching his 3-year-old son in the face at their Long Island home.

Jason Sharp is charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief. A judge also issued an order of protection.

Officials say the child suffered swelling and bruising.

Sharp has been suspended without pay and is due back in Nassau County court on March 18.
