BROOKLYN - The act of kindness by an NYPD officer has gone viral on Facebook.

The officer was unknowingly caught on camera by a tourist from Arizona as he gave a homeless man a pair of boots and socks during a frigid night in Times Square.

The photo became an instant hit on the NYPD's Facebook page, with "likes" quickly climbing into the hundreds of thousands.

Newsday has identified the officer as Larry DePrimo, of Long Island.
