NYPD probe apparent murder-suicide in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN - Police say a double shooting in Brooklyn Saturday morning appears to be a murder-suicide.

Police say they received numerous calls about shots fired and a fire around 4 a.m. on 62nd Street in Borough Park. When firefighters and police arrived, they found the bodies of a 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman across the street.

According to police, the man set two fires in the apartment and the woman ran outside with her 5-year-old daughter. Police say the man then fatally shot the woman and then shot himself. Neighbors found the little girl kneeling by her mother?s body. She was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for trauma.

Police recovered a gun at the scene and say the investigation is ongoing.
