NYPD statistics show crime is up in Carroll Gardens

BROOKLYN - According to the latest NYPD statistics, the crime rate is up in Carroll Gardens this year, prompting some residents to question school-release times.

The recent report shows crime is up nearly 8 percent in the quiet community. Robberies increased to 75, compared to 57 at this time last year. Officials say felony assault has also increased.

Residents say they generally feel safe, but agree that four local schools letting out at the same time has caused some issues.
