BROOKLYN - Smartphone robberies are on the rise and most occur in the subway, according to a report by the New York Police Department.

The report says subway thefts are up 18 percent with more than 300 cases citywide. Police say cell phones, tablets and other gadgets are the biggest target.

Police say the most amount of thefts occurred on the L and J train lines in Brooklyn.
