NYU Polytechnic graduate receives surprise message from father stationed in Kuwait

BROOKLYN - An NYU Polytechnic student received a special graduation surprise from his father. 

With hundreds of his classmates and their families in attendance, Pedro Cruz III received his diploma in urban engineering and an iPad that displayed a special congratulatory message from his father, who is currently stationed in Kuwait and couldn't attend the festivities in person. 

Cruz said that he was very surprised to receive the message from his father and that he wasn't expecting it at all. 

In addition to the iPad message, the grad received a special plaque and an American flag.
