President Barack Obama has signed legislation that will help boost New York City's access to natural gas.

BROOKLYN - President Barack Obama has signed legislation that will help boost New York City's access to natural gas.

The New York City Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Act, sponsored by Rep. Michael Grimm (R-13th District), would allow the construction of a three-mile natural gas pipeline that would run beneath Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways and under Jamaica Bay to Brooklyn's Floyd Bennett Field.

Grimm says the project could generate 265 million in construction activity and would also create 300 construction jobs. He says the route will avoid residential, commercial and environmentally sensitive areas.
