EAST FLATBUSH - An off-duty corrections officer has been arrested after allegedly shooting a man this afternoon.

Police sources tell News 12 that off-duty corrections officer Dale Moore was driving with his girlfriend, Shalonda Smith, a captain in the corrections department. Driving nearby was the father of Smith's children, Kai Gates. It is unclear whether Gates was following Moore and Smith, or whether the two got into a fender bender, but both men got out of their cars and an argument ensued. Moore then allegedly shot Gates twice in the chest. News 12 is told Gates was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Smith was also off-duty at the time of the incident. Community activist Tony Herbert says there has been an ongoing dispute with the three people involved.
