Off-duty officer shot in East New York recovering

A 17-year veteran of the NYPD is recovering after being shot yesterday afternoon while off-duty at a McDonald's on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York.Sources

EAST NEW YORK - A 17-year veteran of the NYPD is recovering after being shot yesterday afternoon while off-duty at a McDonald's on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York.

Sources tell News 12 Brooklyn that the victim is officer Dawn Foster.

Officials say the officer was caught in the crossfire between two groups of people. They do not believe the officer was targeted.

Authorities say the officer is recovering from gunshot wounds to the hand and elbow and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say so far, there have been no arrests and there are no suspects.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 1-800-COP-SHOT. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
