Police say an off-duty officer shot and injured a suspected armed robber Sunday night after the victim approached the officer with a gun.According to authorities,

GRAVESEND - Police say an off-duty officer shot and injured a suspected armed robber Sunday night after the victim approached the officer with a gun.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 11:30 on Avenue T off Coney Island Avenue. Police say the officer was pulling into a driveway on a motorcycle when the man approached him with a gun. Officials say the officer then shot the man in the face.

Police say the man tried to get away after he was shot, but the officer was able to keep him on the scene until authorities arrived. The officer suffered some cuts and scrapes from the struggle. Both the officer and the victim are being treated at local hospitals.
