Officer struck by car in Coney Island foot chase

A police officer is recovering this morning after being struck by a car while chasing a suspect on foot in Coney Island.Police say the chase

BROOKLYN - A police officer is recovering this morning after being struck by a car while chasing a suspect on foot in Coney Island.

Police say the chase began on on West 33rd Street and ended in the vicinity of Stillwell and Mermaid avenues. According to police, the officer began chasing the suspect because he saw he had a gun.

During the chase, the officer ran into the street in front of an oncoming car and fell onto the windshield. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital with a minor injury on his arm.

Police were able to apprehend the suspect.
