BROOKLYN - Some local elected officials said Tuesday the B25 bus through Brooklyn will likely be saved from elimination.

Riders of the bus, which goes from East New York to Downtown Brooklyn, have been fighting to keep the route from the MTA's chopping block. The bus, along with other routes, was considered for elimination due to budget shortfalls.

Residents say the B25 is the best means of transportation for many in their area. Some who have protested cutting the line say they're happy the MTA is hearing their concerns.

Officials say the negotiations are ongoing and the MTA will vote on the proposal Jan. 27.
