BROOKLYN - Local lawmakers and community leaders were on hand today to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new skating rink in Prospect Park.

The new Lakeside at Prospect Park will replace the old Wollman skating rink, which was only open four months each year. The new facility will be open year-round and will have two skating rinks.

Officials say the facility is expected to open in two years and will cost around $70 million.
