Officials: Suspect shot by police in East New York

BROOKLYN - Officials report that a suspect has been shot by police in East New York.

The incident occurred at 1250 Sutter Ave., outside of the Cypress Hills Houses at around 7 p.m.

Police say that the male suspect pointed a gun at police, and that police fired back. The suspect was allegedly hit once in the lower part of his body. Officials say his gun was recovered at the scene.

Authorities report that the victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, but no information has been released about his condition.

Police did confirm that there was someone else with the suspect at the time of the incident, but they aren't saying if he was involved.

Friday marks the third day in a row that Brooklyn has seen a police-involved shooting.
