BROOKLYN - Officials say they increased security around the borough and the rest of the city after Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a top alert for the state.

The NYPD and MTA had more officers at subway stations and major city spots as a precaution. On the subways, expect increased bag checks, K-9 units and heavy weapons teams.

Commissioner Raymond Kelley said 'iconic' sites like Times Square would receive special monitoring. He noted counter-terrorism officers were also working behind the scenes.
