Opening of Denny's on Pennsylvania Avenue met with protests in East New York
EAST NEW YORK - A new Denny's opening in East New York has some local activists concerned.
Activists say they have issues with Denny's history of discrimination lawsuits filed by blacks, and the low-paying jobs the restaurant chain offers.
People attending a rally at the restaurant's new location on Pennsylvania Avenue near Linden Boulevard say they want Denny's to be more progressive and offer living wages to their employees once it opens. The Denny's is opening in the location of the old Galaxy Diner.
