Owners of Brooklyn hall make bid for grand hotel

PARK SLOPE - The owners of Brooklyn's Grand Prospect Hall want to expand their presence in Park Slope with a hotel.

Owners Michael and Alice Halkias hope to build an 11-story hotel with 150 rooms and 400 parking spots next to the banquet hall.

"There are so many hotels all over the place, but nobody has what I have," says Michael Halkias. "I have the meeting space, the conference space, the spectacular ballrooms that the hotels in the city of New York don't have."

To build the hotel, the Halkias will need approval from the local community board. They plan to make their proposal tonight at 6:30 p.m. during a Community Board 7 meeting at P.S. 10.
