BROOKLYN - Two young students at P.S. 192 in Borough Park are writing their way to the head of the class.

Mehrangiz Ahtomova, who is in kindergarten, and first-grader Vlady Gyrnyk, have been named state winners in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest.

The students had to print the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog," which contains every letter in the alphabet. The kids were judged on size, shape, spacing and slant of their print.

Mehrangiz and Vlady competed against 300,000 other students. Both students received $200. An additional $200 went to their school.

Mehrangiz is also one of nine grand national winners, representing kindergarten across the country.

A celebration is being planned to honor the students for their achievements.
