FDNY officials say flames broke out inside the York Street building.

VINEGAR HILL - Hundreds of students were evacuated today after a P.S. 307 classroom suddenly went up in flames.

News 12 was told that the flames broke out near a sink area in one of the school's third-floor classrooms. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke had filled the halls.

Nearby York Street has since been reopened. No children or staff members were hurt in the incident.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
