BROOKLYN - A new program at one Park Slope elementary school is helping to get kids get active.

P.S. 39 officially kicked off Family Fitness Fridays, a 10-week initiative that has students and their parents taking part in fun, fit activities for 45 minutes before school each week.

Colorado Rockies Pitcher and school alum Adam Ottavino showed up to encourage the kids on their first week toward better health.

The elementary students only have a gym part-time due to budget cuts, so parents and faculty hope the program will help make up for it.
