BROOKLYN - The Bed-Stuy community is coming together to help a school in need.

P.S./I.S. 137 held its first community concert Friday to raise money for a marquee to put outside the school.

Parents and students say that a marquee is a way to let the neighborhood know what's going on in the school. They say it's essential for students.

They say that they have been waiting for years for city funding for a marquee. Now, they're fundraising on their own.

The marquee will cost around $10,000. Parents and students hope to host more events like the community concert to try and reach that goal.
