Pacers draft pick arrested in Brooklyn

NEW YORK - (AP) - Indiana Pacers draft pick Lance Stephenson hasbeen arrested in New York City and accused of assaulting hisgirlfriend.

Police say Stephenson was taken into custody following a 5 a.m.fight with the woman in Brooklyn.

The woman was treated at a hospital for injuries sustained in afall down a flight of stairs.

Pacers president Larry Bird said in a statement that he is"aware of a situation involving Lance Stephenson." He said theteam is gathering information.

Stephenson was one of the nation's top prospects coming out ofhigh school, but he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct afterbeing accused of groping a 17-year-old girl.

After a solid year at Cincinnati, he was considered by some tobe a first-round talent, but he slid into the second round becauseof his reputation.
