BROOKLYN HEIGHTS - A Brooklyn Heights park has been renamed after one of Brooklyn's most famous musicians -- late Beastie Boy, Adam "MCA" Yauch.

Yauch grew up just around the corner from Palmetto Playground, located at Columbia Place and State Street. He played and learned how to ride a bike there.

Fans, friends and family filled the playground today to honor Yauch.  Saturday marks one year since his death, and now fans can celebrate his memory while spending the day at the playground.

The Beastie Boys is a hip hop band that formed in the 1980s, broke barriers with their lyrics and won Grammies for their music.

Fellow Beastie Boy Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horowitz says his friend, who he calls his brother, would be proud.
