BROOKLYN - The night before the Labor Day Parade, Jouvert takes over Eastern Parkway.

There are people dancing, singing, and also lots of steel pan bands creating a groove for revelers.

The Pan Sonatas is one of those bands, and they take playing seriously. Although they're having fun getting ready for Jouvert, they want to win the Panorama competition. They have about 100 players, so it takes a while to prepare.

But win or lose, band members say there's always a great reward, in seeing the crowd.

Over the years, Pan Sonatas has won a number of trophies, but the group is hoping to make this their third consecutive win.
