BROOKLYN - Parents in East New York are asking the Department of Transportation to install a traffic light at the corner of Liberty Avenue and Jerome Street following another car accident in front of their children's school.

Monday night's accident near the Salve Regina Catholic Academy sent three people to the hospital.

Some concerned parents say that for the last two years they've been fighting for a traffic light right in front of the school. The Department of Transportation informed them that there was no need for a light at the intersection, after conducting a case study of the area.

The neighborhood is surrounded with cross-walk signs and even has two crossing guards in the area, but parents say that's not enough.

The school principal says that they've been fighting for a traffic light at the busy intersection for years, urging parents to contact the Department of Transportation.

Parents say their next step is to take the issue to their community board.

News 12 Brooklyn contacted the Department of Transportation but it has not commented on the issue.
