BROOKLYN - Brooklyn parents are accusing the Department of Education of not doing enough to remove toxic light fixtures from a Carroll Gardens school facility.

According to the parents, light fixtures at the facility that houses the Brooklyn New School and the Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies contain PCBs and need to be replaced.

Parents are now calling on the federal government to step in, threatening to send a petition to the Environmental Protection Agency for immediate action.

Department of Education officials say they unveiled a $780 million plan to rid the schools of the light fixtures over the next 10 years.
