Parents, students to speak at P.S.332 closure hearing

BROOKLYN - Parents and students plan to speak today at a hearing to determine whether P.S. 332 should shut its doors.

The Department of Education wants to close the school due to low performance and test scores. The department says based on research the school cannot provide a high-quality education to its students.

According to a proposal, the school would be phased out over the next several years and completely close in 2014.

The school is one of 26 citywide that officials plan to close. Parents and students say they plan to protest the closure.

The hearing will be held at the school at 6 p.m.
