Parents upset at lack of crossing guards near school

BROOKLYN - Parents and teachers are upset at the lack of crossing guards near P.S. 227.

The intersection near Gerritsen and Channel avenues had three crossing guards last year. This year, parents say there are only two guards to help students cross what they call a dangerous intersection.

Residents in the area also asked for a traffic light to be installed at the intersection before the school year began. Now, parents are upset that neither the traffic light nor crossing guards are present to help children get to school.
